The work in this show is intended to engage the academic and artistic struggles and successes of young people of color, from the artist's perspective as an African-American male premedical student. The work consists primarily of paintings: anatomical but expressive. The hope is for the work to provoke interest in the adversity and pain experienced by all people of color in this city, and contrast it with the hopes and achievements that accompany the proper support and education of our city’s (indeed our nation’s) marginalized youth.
