The Harris Theater is marking a First of another sort: the first permanent Nickelodeon theater devoted exclusively to motion pictures was established in downtown Pittsburgh in 1905, by John P. Harris and his partner Harry Davis. Pittsburgh Filmmakers will celebrate Pittsburgh as the birthplace of the movie house at the cinema that bears Harris' name, with memorabilia and screenings. Come see turn-of-the-century silent films that were filmed right here in Pittsburgh as well as some highlights from other well known silent films of that era. This event is in partnership with the Theatre Historical Society of America.
