Food, Drink — and Zines! is a collection of colorful, whimsical illustrations centering around food and alcohol, all created by the Pittsburgh illustrator Morg. Morg’s work has previously appeared on the cover of Pittsburgh City Paper, and she’s exhibited at zine and craft fairs across Pennsylvania.
Morg has two great loves: sharing information, which she’s found in her research, and eating great food. The two overlap in her work frequently, with recipes finding their way into illustrations and food and drink illustrations finding their way into Morg’s self-researched, self-published “zines” - short-subject DIY magazines that Morg prints and binds herself. In her debut solo exhibition, Morg shares selections from over three years of food and drink illustration, all displaying her bright, appealing color palettes and her charming and clever uses of line and abstraction. Pieces from her zine work - including her popular How to Drink series of cocktail recipe books - find their way onto gallery walls for the first time, providing a broad survey of this industrious illustrator’s work.
Food, Drink — and Zines! runs from Friday January 27th through February 28th. At a special one-night-only event during the Winter Gallery Crawl on Friday, January 27, from 5:30-8:30, Morg answers questions about the collection and even provides a demonstration of how to create your own zine from a single sheet of paper so that you can share your passions with the world.
